The public is warmly invited to a special one-day event celebrating history, courage, and the enduring pursuit of freedom. On Friday, May 1, from 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM, visitors will have the unique opportunity to view the breathtaking 13-foot “Journey to Freedom” statue of Harriet Tubman at the Washington DC Temple Visitors’ Center parking lot.

This powerful sculpture captures the spirit and determination of Harriet Tubman and those she guided to freedom along the Underground Railroad. Guests of all ages are encouraged to come, reflect, and be inspired by this moving tribute.

The day will also feature a special evening program from 6:30 PM to 7:30 PM, where noted historian Anthony Cohen will share insights from his remarkable 800-mile journey retracing the Underground Railroad to Canada, highlighting themes of faith, freedom, family, and the celebration of the 250th anniversary of the United States.

This event is part of the Golden Jubilee Anniversary of the DC Temple Visitors’ Center and offers a meHarriet Tubman statueaningful opportunity for the community to come together in remembrance, learning, and celebration.

Admission is free and open to the public.
