Step Into History: A Unique Walking Experience Celebrating America’s Legacy of Religious Freedom

St. Mary’s City, MD — The public is warmly invited to an immersive and inspiring event that brings America’s earliest foundations of religious freedom to life. On Saturday, April 18, 2026, from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM, guests will gather at Historic St. Mary’s City to walk the very ground where the seeds of religious liberty and early American life were first planted.

As part of the America 250 celebration, this event offers a rare opportunity to explore the origins of one of the nation’s most cherished freedoms—the free exercise of religion. Attendees will hear from religious freedom experts who will discuss why these principles remain vital today and how early Maryland colonists of different faiths lived, worked, and worshiped together.

Participants will also enjoy a rich, hands-on historical experience, including personalized tours, living history exhibits, and access to reconstructed landmarks such as the State House, chapel, and meeting house. Visitors can explore active archaeological sites, scenic walking trails, and colonial farm life, making this event both educational and memorable for individuals and families alike.

Join us for a meaningful day of reflection, discovery, and celebration as we honor the enduring legacy of religious freedom in America.
